In recent time, information related to change on Vietnam visa exemption scheme for nationals of Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Republic of Korea and Japan has worried various travel agencies in general, and Vietnam visa suppliers in particular. The Vietnam Tourism Association proposed that the Government continue Vietnam visa waivers for visitors from the major markets, especially in the current difficult economic circumstance, fearing that a Vietnam visa requirement will undercut Vietnam tourism’s competitive advantage.

Currently, many countries in Southeast Asia is applying clear visa scheme for foreign tourists aiming to promote their tourism. For example, Thailand allows free entry of people from 55 countries, and citizens of around 150 countries and territories do not need visas when they visit Singapore and Malaysia.
